Gremio has been overly poor technically this season. Their coach Paulo Autuori is clearly the root of all evil here, since the team is a tactical mess and shows no psychological strength. They lack heart and attention when playing, and that is reflected also in the bravery (lack of) when reaching for a ball or the attention to make a pass. The players play nervously, and that was all season long. This would be the characteristics of the team itself, and that explains their campaign. In the road all these issues come to the light, and they have one of the worst road campaigns of the Brazil Serie A. In the last 5 away matches they lost 4 and tied one. At home in the other hand they surprisingly have one of the best campaigns and that’s because the adversaries overly defend when visiting them, and the supporters making them attack, resulted in a great home campaign. But all the above has in the account “motivation” I mean, something to do in the Serie A, and that’s not the case for now, since they cannot classify to the next year’s Libertadores and do not face relegation threat. This lack of commitment shall only make it worse. The only road matches played in these conditions were the city derby against Inter when they lost 1x0 (Inter scored once in the initial moments and didn’t attack more because Gremio simply didn’t get upset about this, here again the lack of heart previously pointed) and against anti-relegation fighters Santo André, one of the poorest squads in Brazil technically. Grêmio also misses one of their best players, Souza, suspended for yellows.

Now they face Cruzeiro without no heart and hosts should be happy about facing such squad at their own domains.

Cruzeiro wants to qualify to the next year’s Libertadores and technically they are one of the best sides of Brazil.

At home Cruzeiro has been strong and in the last 5 only lost to squads that over performed. They lost to Fluminense who played their best match in the season, then won against Santo André, Botafogo and Goiás, and lost against title fighters Palmeiras.

Palmeiras plays for the title and I expect them to be rather keen. Gremio's home record has had many crazy stories and IMO that's rather fictional at the moment considering the true stories hidden by the results and the current commitment (lack of) situation. 30% home 30% tie 40% is how I see it. This +0,25 line is rather valuable and IMO Palmeiras has all the conditions to win the match, anyway, I keep cautious in the stake considering some rather problematic psychological approach of Palmeiras. Anyway the commitment and technical difference is much too big and today I really think they can make the most of the match, or at the most grab a tie. GL!
